Around Easter-time not only nature is awaking from its winter sleep but you can also see flowers and flower buds everywhere – spring is in the air. One glimpses funny children in the streets dressed as witches, whose mission is among others to dispel evil spirits. Once you are here, we recommend to join the formal Easter procession – Via Crucis – and attend the traditional Easter bonfire at the outskirts of Helsinki. These are just a few examples of many Finnish Easter traditions characterised by East and West. At this occasion don’t miss the opportunity to discover the unparalleled culinary variety during the Easter period which is quite a unique experience.
For the next day, we recommend to book one of our favourite excursions such as a trip to wonderful Porvoo about 50 km east of Helsinki with its medieval town plan, the red warehouses on the riverbanks, the narrow streets and the famous cathedral. Alternatively you can visit the beautiful UNESCO world heritage island of Suomenlinna or make a day trip to Tallinn just to mention a few possibilities.
Just tell us what suits your needs and we customize your trip with pleasure.
