Ainola and Lake Tuusula – Culture and Lake scenery
Visit the home of the famous Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius about 45 km outside of Helsinki and experience the beauty of Lake Tuusula, which has inspired so many Finnish artists in former times. Ainola can be visited as a part of a guided tour where you learn interesting facts and entertaining anecdotes about Jean Sibelius’ exciting life, his compositions and his family. Ainola was named after his wife Aino and is located close to the beautiful Lake Tuusula, the residence and meeting point of many well-known Finnish artists, like the painter Pekka Halonen, the writer Juhani Aho and many others who enjoyed very good and frequent contacts over 100 years ago. You can choose from 12 interesting museums to learn more about Finnish culture, history and the Finnish way of life more than 100 years ago. At the end of an interesting day you will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious home-made food in a cosy restaurant near Lake Tuusula.
