Experience the so-called Vappu – a feast of students – one of the most intensive celebrated non-religious festivities in Finland which takes place on the night of April 30 – May 1. Best you arrive in time to be witness of this funny tradition when students thoroughly wash the statue of Havis Amanda and then crown her with a traditional student cap. This is the signal for spring to go-ahead. Just allow yourself to be infected by the joy of the people and join the cheerful atmosphere around you. After this amusing event just do it like the Finns and go for delicious dinner or have a picnic in the park and continue celebrating with friends and family. We recommend to have a qualified guided tour of Helsinki before the celebrations start (as some of the streets might be closed later) to explore the most beautiful sights the Finnish capital has to offer. For the next day you can choose among our list of half-day and full-day excursions to explore more worth seeing sights like a visit to the fortress Suomenlinna, a stroll on the open-air museum Seurasaari or another of our popular excursions you might be interested in.
We will be pleased to customize your individual request.
