In former times the Old King’s Road was taken by kings, tsars, merchants and couriers that used to go from Oslo via Stockholm and Helsinki all the way to St Petersburg. Today, this ancient travel route is a popular tourist attraction crossing through small and scenic wooden villages, built around manors, inns, farms and taverns offering beautiful country scenery and coastal areas, historical manor, medieval churches and much more.
First you explore Helsinki covering all the major sights the beautiful Finnish capital has to offer before you continue to the picturesque town of Porvoo. Enjoy a walk through some of the cobblestone streets of this charming old town packed with wooden buildings, the medieval cathedral and the red warehouses on the riverbanks. Following this, you will visit the tsar’s fishing chalet where your guide will tell you entertaining anecdotes of Tsar Alexander III who enjoyed relaxing here with his family. You will continue your trip to South Karelia and take the time to let your thoughts drift as the landscape passes by during a wonderful canal cruise. On the way back to Helsinki you will pass charming coastal villages along the archipelago of Southern Finland.
We will gladly send you the detailed itinerary on request.
